ITC Motter Corpus was designed in 1994 by Austrian Othmar Motter, who is an award-winning designer of logos, posters, trademarks and many corporate identity programs.
Motter Corpus is an extra bold, almost-sans-serif display face that comes in regular and condensed widths. Othmar Motter set out to make a display sans serif typeface that was readable yet worked well with other sans serif designs.
ITC Motter Corpus has small serifs, that, together with the modulated weight contrast, make it highly legible. The counters have been kept open and the serifs are, according to Motter, ovals with diagonal middle axes. They thus remain clearly recognizable despite their shortness. Diagonal, convex strokes in letters like A and W minimize white space around the characters and increase the size of the counters; the rounded letters have slightly flat sides.
