Collins FONT Download
Designer: Dave Farey,
Publisher: Letraset
Designed by Dave Farey and Richard Dawson at Housestyle Graphics in the UK,
Collins is one of two new fonts from Letraset that have been developed from specific hand lettering styles by the celebrated British lettering artist, Cecil Wade. Named after the old
Collins music hall in London’s Clerkenwell district, it has a soft, light-hearted chunky appearance and incorporates clever use of blatant variants in stroke weights that are particularly evident in the lowercase letterforms. Nevertheless, this feature works well with the thinner lineweight appearing within sufficient characters to ensure an interesting texture, whatever the text.
The objective was to create a typeface that retained all the wonderful features that Cecil Wade managed to incorporate into his lettering and
Collins is proof that the objective was achieved. The light-hearted, fun evoking appearance, is reminiscent of lettering popular in children’s comics and books, therefore making it a highly desirable face for the vast children’s toys and baby products arena.
