My working title for this font was Serendipity because it came about by a happy accident: I was drawing the inline for another font (Showbiz) when it occured to me that it would make an attractive font in its own right. As it turned out it wasn't that easy, and the finished product bore little relation to it! What’s more I discovered that the title was already taken. Still, it gave me a starting point.
Belvedere, the name I finally chose, is an Italian word that translates as ‘beautiful outlook’ and describes a pavillion or summer house on high ground with commanding views. It has grace, style and a touch of class, all of which I've tried to incorporate in this font family. The snazzy graphics are by my friend and colleague Dan Austin.
